Matt Smith Doctor Who Costume

Hello whovians! I am a HUGE Doctor Who fan. As many watchers of the show know, there has never been a female doctor. Many people love to dress up as some of the Doctors, but some people might not want to spend a ton of money on a costume or won't have an excuse to wear it. So I'm going to try and give an inspired outfit of the 11th doctor, played by Matt Smith, that people can pull together for a last-minute conference or just an outfit to wear. Most of these clothes are things you can find in your closet or that a friend may have for you to borrow. For anyone who don't watch Doctor Who, I seriously recommend that you do. And to any die-hard fans, this is only inspired, so this look is going to be a bit casual and not exactly like the costume. Geronimo!
Firstly, you see that the Doctor has these black laced ankle boots that he wears often. You can use a plain pair of combat boots or black ankle sneakers. These can be found at Charlotte Russe for about $15.00. They’re pretty cute and not as expensive as other boots.
This is one option that I thought was pretty adorable, and the leopard print really makes this shoe pop and give it a creative flare. Oh, and 11 usually wears black socks, but you can get really creative with this part of the outfit. A friend of mine got a pair of Doctor Who socks that are really cute. Or, you can throw in a pair of rainbow socks, like the 4th Doctor's scarf. It's really up to you.
Next, 11 has a pair of long black pants that have a bit of an average waist. However, I think a really nice pant style is a pair of jeans with a bit of a high waist. These don’t come as cheap as the shoes, but AliExpress has a nice pair that’s about $18.00.
Any jean will do, but I really like high-waisted style of jean is very flattering and they make you look a bit taller and can show off your figure.

Okay, now we can move to the shirt. Here, you can get creative and a bit goofy. If you want to wear a true-to-the-show-shirt, the Doctor has a red and white dress shirt. This can be a bit difficult to find, but a red or white blouse will do. These can be found at JCPenney for about $15.00, but a white or red blouse can be found hiding in your closet.
But you don’t really have to stick with this part of the costume. Since this is Doctor Who inspired, maybe throw in a Doctor Who t-shirt (Hot Topic) or anything you want. I recommend staying away from heavy patterns, as this could throw off the balance of this outfit. But get creative with this part. Find what works for you and roll with it.
Now, 11 has this lovely lighter brown coat that he wears in the earlier seasons (5-7 part 1). These coats are a bit hard to find that are cheaper than paying over $100 for a single coat. I found one that was $32.99 from Lands’ End that works for this outfit, but again, you can get creative with this part. I would stick with light browns, greys, and blacks for this outfit.
Last, but certainly not least, the iconic bow tie. You can’t have an 11 outfit without a bow tie. It just doesn’t work like that! So I found this AWESOME red bow tie from Solid Color Neckties. They only cost about $4.95 and they complete this outfit.
Also, 11 wears suspenders. In the earlier seasons, they were red or a bright color. In the later seasons, they were black or a deep plum color. The same goes for the bow ties. You can use any suspenders that you might have, or you can but them at Hot Topic as well.
This outfit can be un-whovianfied (that’s a word now) and worn as a super cute outfit, if you would like. I hope you all enjoyed this, and let me know what other outfits you want to see girlified and as cheap as a girl on the internet can find (without going on ebay).

P.S. Sorry for the late update! I was out of town for a few weeks. Also, sorry for bad grammar/writing.
